This is a film me and my friend made about the Sarphatistraat Offices by Architect Steven Holl, during our study trip to Amsterdam, November 2006. (Its my little tribute to Bladerunner, though its nothing like BR!) You would be right in guessing am a Architecture student! I’m currently in my 3rd year at the Manchester School of Architecture! Nanotechnology has been used by a New York design office to change a sheet of standard office paper into a flexible surface that can conduct electricity. The work was done by Decker Yeadon LLC, a firm that specializes in finding novel applications for advanced materials, such as smart materials and nanomaterials. They recently demonstrated the conductivity of the office paper by using it as a conduit to power an LED.
Decker Yeadon first created a liquid solution that they’re referring to as a NanoINK. The ink that they made primarily consists of carbon nanotubes, deionized water, and a chemical surfactant that helps the nanotubes disperse in the water. The nanotubes they used are only 1.5 nm in diameter, which is smaller than a DNA molecule. Their NanoINK was used to impart the electrical properties of the nanotubes onto substrates that they coated with the ink, including cotton fabric and paper. The work opens up a number of possibilities for applications, in architecture and other design disciplines, that might take advantage of the printable, conductive ink.

This animation shows the first sketches of an office building designed by FGMF Architects to Idea!Zarvos Real State. The idea was to show how different volumes of independent offices coexist and form a big and strange construction. The first sketches fase was very much like an old tetris videogame, so we decided to simulate one to express the process of design. The score at the end of the game are the maximun areas according to the construction regulation in São Paulo, such as F.A.R. and so one, in a cinic way to expressour descontent with the recent masterplan of the city.
